The 2012 IBIA Golf Challenge

The IBIA Golf Challenge 2012 saw 100 members of the maritime industry coming together in the early hours of the morning for a “shotgun tee off”.

Our Guest of honour was Capt Segar, Assistant Chief Executive (Operations), Maritime Port Authority of Singapore.

The golfers trooped passed the Hole in One Prize, a Kia K5 sedan on the way to their tee boxes.

The game was unexpectedly shortened as the clouds opened up followed by a heavy downpour. The spirits were not dampened as the golfers gather at the café for networking session.

Mr Tim Tan from Golden Island Diesel Oil Trading Pte Ltd was presented with the “Challenge Trophy” and a prize consisting of Callaway RAZ driver and Cleveland wedge 56 degrees. The golf clubs were generously donated back to the organiser for the lucky draw.

IBIA Acting Chief Executive Trevor Harrison was on hand to give away the lucky draw prizes.

In addition to the golf event, IBIA’s Bursary committee decided to hold the bursary award ceremony as well. The bursary fund was raised in 2009 for assisting needy students in maritime courses. This year, two educational institutions, Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Wavelink Maritime Institute (WMI) submitted nominations to receive the bursary award. The awards are given out to pay for the tuition fees of the students in their respective course of study.

The Chairman, IBIA Asia Branch, Daniel Phua gave out the bursary awards.
